Adonia Lugo, PhD
Cultural anthropologist Adonia E. Lugo, PhD was born and raised in Acjachemen territory (San Juan Capistrano) and now lives and works in Tongva territory in Los Angeles. Until this spring, she was the chair of the Urban Sustainability Department at Antioch University Los Angeles. In June, she will join the Institute for Transportation Studies at UCLA. Since 2016, Lugo has collaborated with researchers and community members to define "mobility justice," an approach to transportation equity that centers the lived experiences of marginalized communities. Lugo co-created the open street event CicLAvia and the organization today known as People for Mobility Justice in Los Angeles.
