Jay Bradshaw

Jay is the Executive Officer of the North Coast States Carpenters Union (formerly the Nor Cal Carpenters Union), having been elected to his first four-year term in August of 2021 and winning re-election in 2025.  He represents over 55,000 members from 26 Local Unions.  Included in Jay’s responsibilities are setting the political agenda, organizing programs, building employer relations, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and overseeing the training of Journeylevel and apprentice tradespeople.   During his tenure as Executive Officer, he has led legislative drives to streamline housing in California and hold criminal contractors responsible for payroll fraud, as well as overseen the expansion of the organization into Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho.

Prior to this, Jay served as a working carpenter apprentice and then journeyman out of Carpenters Local 22 in San Francisco for many years. In 1995, Jay became a full-time organizer for the Union and was made Director of Organizing in 2008, where he served until becoming Contracts Administrator in July of 2019.

Jay serves as the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for the Carpenters Funds Administration Office, and serves as Trustee to various Carpenters Trust Funds, worth billions of dollars in assets and provide health and retirement benefits to carpenters and their families throughout the North Coast States Carpenters multi-state jurisdiction. 

Jay was first appointed to the California Transportation Commission by Governor Newsom in February of 2022, and was reappointed by the Governor in March of 2026.
