The Commission convened an Equity Advisory Roundtable (Roundtable) to elevate diverse perspectives in the transportation process and enhance relationships with community-based partners. The Roundtable brought together equity experts, practitioners, and community leaders from throughout the state to collaborate with Commission staff over a series of virtual meetings to develop recommendations to the Commission related to specific equity activities. These activities included: the development of an Equity Advisory Committee; providing feedback on Community Listening Sessions that the Commission held in partnership with Caltrans and the California State Transportation Agency; incorporating best practices for engagement with residents, community-based organizations, and tribal governments into the Commission's meetings and program guidelines; and consideration of how to incorporate feedback from Community Listening Sessions into our agencies processes through meaningful change.

Roundtable meetings were open to the public to encourage those who were not Roundtable members – such as other advocates, government staff, and members of the public – to participate in discussions and provide meaningful input. The perspectives of the Roundtable members were centered in these meetings, and Roundtable members were provided the opportunity to respond to any public comment.
